What do you think of when you think of “self-care”? The media often portrays self-care as things like an expensive spa day, splurging on a fancy meal, etc.

But self-care doesn’t have to involve a big commitment of time or money. In fact, the kind of self-care that makes the MOST difference in your life is the kind that grounds you and offers stability and consistency to your life.

With that in mind, here are 5 things you can do EVERY DAY to become more consistent with your self-care, and they won’t cost extra time or money.

Morning Routine: Have you ever heard the saying, “I woke up on the wrong side of the bed today”? It’s another way of saying, “$**t hit the fan the second I got out of bed and it hasn’t gotten any better.” So, what would happen if you made an effort to start every day in a positive way by doing whatever works for you? Some people like to enjoy a cup of coffee in bed, others like to walk the dog while listening to a podcast, whatever. Whether it tak es 5 minutes or an hour, snooze that alarm a little less, and do one consistent thing for yourself every morning, no matter what.

Walk More: Walking is great in so many ways. It’s not only exercise, it also clears your head, provides a way to rest your eyes from staring at screens all day, lets you get some fresh air, etc. Walk more by taking phone calls on the go, walking your dog a little more frequently, whatever! Just take 5-10 minutes a few times a day to go outside.

Care For Your Appearance: Hear me out. Do you ever notice how when you’re having a bad day, chances are you’re not looking your best either? Make an effort to develop a quick and easy routine that you can do every day to spruce up your appearance, just enough that you wouldn’t mind an unexpected zoom call, camera on and all. Think: moisturizer, non-bed head, clothes that don’t double as pajamas, etc.

Don’t Eat Your Feelings: Okay…sometimes it IS an act of self-care to eat the cookie, but most of the time you’ll feel a lot better eating fresh, nutrient-dense foods. Your body and mind will thank you.

Do Something For Someone Else: How is thinking about others self-care?  Because it makes you feel better about yourself, knowing that you’re making an impact in the world. We love being a B1G1 Business For Good, because our business, and caring for your wellness, is making the world a better place. How are YOU making the world a better place every day?
