Happy Thanksgiving Eve! This is yet another holiday that looks WAY different this year. However, maybe that’s okay. At the root of it all, Thanksgiving is a reminder to be thankful for what you have and that despite how things may seem, there is ALWAYS something to be thankful for. It’s okay if you can’t have the huge family gathering this year. It’s okay if you can’t take that annual trip. There are still ways to celebrate gratitude! Here are some ways to celebrate for any situation:
For the family that’s separated: An entire Thanksgiving dinner over Zoom may be a bit much, but there are still some ways to get together virtually. Maybe a dessert hour? After the festivities you can set a time to get on a group call while you eat your weight in pie and name things you’re grateful for. That’s guaranteed to put you in good spirits…or at least in a food coma.
For the couple: If it’s just you and your boo this holiday, why not make it extra special? Remind yourselves of all the things you love about your partnership and that having each other is something to be grateful for no matter the circumstances. Maybe you can’t take a vacation, but ever heard of a staycation? Order Thanksgiving dinner (preferably from a local restaurant, shop small!), rent a movie, bake a pie together, take a walk together, the possibilities are endless. Just make sure to be present. Engage in the moment while you disconnect from your day-to-day routine.
For the family with kids: The little ones need to be kept busy. How about a family game night? This is a great way to stay home and stay safe, while spending quality time as a family. After all, that’s what it’s all about.
For anyone and everyone: Donate to a charity. Make a difference in the world and support a cause that moves you. 2020 has been filled with a lot of ugliness, but it hasn’t been all bad. At the core, Thanksgiving is about appreciating what you have, and about giving to those who have less. This is now at the core of all our business activities here at Healing Hands. We’re delighted to be a Business for Good through B1G1. Help us give back, and do some giving of your own.
