Happy Wednesday! Hopefully you are feeling refreshed and reconnected after the long weekend. We wanted to share some tips to keep the good vibes going so you can take them with you into the rest of the week and the new month ahead.

Since this Sunday (5/31/2020) is World Meditation Day, it’s apropos to discuss mindfulness/meditation and how to implement it into your life no matter how much extra time you have (or don’t have!).

First off, you should know that mindfulness and meditation are not exactly one and the same, however they are similar and they can be combined.

Meditation is defined as “a practice where an individual uses a technique – such as mindfulness, or focusing the mind on a particular object, thought, or activity – to train attention and awareness, and achieve a mentally clear and emotionally calm and stable state.”

Mindfulness is defined as “the psychological process of purposely bringing one’s attention to experiences occurring in the present moment without judgment.”

Therefore, mindfulness is simply one tool of many in your meditation toolbox. However, it’s an extremely useful tool, and one we would highly suggest implementing into your life and meditation practices. We utilize it ourselves as part of our digital wellness programs.

Psych Central provides 9 mindfulness exercises you can do in under a minute (so…no excuses!). We challenge you to try them out before or during a meditation session this week, or simply throughout your day to calm and recenter yourself. The exercises can be done anywhere and include a variety of techniques ranging from breathing exercises to mindful eating, so you’re sure to find one that resonates with you.

Once you experience the benefits of consistent mindfulness meditation practice, you’ll thank us!
